What we measure, and what we never touch.
Holdem Method is a learning tool, so it is worth knowing which parts of your practice are counted and which parts stay yours. This page is the whole answer, not a summary of a longer one.
Never collected
None of the following is sent to Google Analytics or to any other third party, in any country, whether or not you accept analytics:
- • Your hole cards, the board, chip amounts, or any hand you play.
- • The reasoning you write before a decision, or the confidence you rate it at.
- • Your decision records and review notes, whether they live in your browser or in an account.
- • Your email address, display name, password, or account identifier.
- • Password reset links. The token is stripped out of the page address before analytics ever sees it.
What is measured when you accept analytics
Google Analytics 4 is the only analytics tool on this site. There is no tag manager, no advertising tag, no session recorder, and no heatmap. When you accept, it records:
- • Page views — which page, its title, the language edition you are reading, where you arrived from, the approximate location Google derives from your IP address, and your device and browser.
- • Five product events, and only these five: opening a lesson (which lesson), starting a practice session (which mode), locking in a decision (which mode and which street), finishing a lesson session (which lesson, and whether you got none, some, or all of it), and opening a review.
Those events carry a lesson slug, a practice mode, a street name, and a coarse score band. That is the complete list of values. They tell us whether people finish what they start; they cannot reconstruct a hand or a person.
Accepting also lets Google store a first-party cookie holding a randomly generated identifier so repeat visits can be counted once rather than twice. Google processes this data on our behalf; event data is kept for 14 months and then deleted.
Your choice, and how to change it
In the EEA, the UK, and Switzerland nothing loads until you choose — no analytics cookie is set and no request is made to Google before you accept. Elsewhere analytics loads by default and you can turn it off here at any time; declining clears the analytics cookies immediately. If your browser sends Global Privacy Control, that is treated as a decision to decline everywhere, without asking.
Your choice is stored in your browser, so it is per-browser and per-device.
What the site itself keeps
Practice you do without an account stays in your browser's local storage and is never uploaded. If you create an account, we hold your email address, a hashed password, an optional display name, your sign-in history, and any practice records you chose to save. A session cookie keeps you signed in; it is required for the site to work and is not an analytics cookie. Server logs record request metadata for operating the service.
You can download everything held against your account, or delete the account and its records, from your account settings. Deletion is immediate and cannot be undone.
